Welcome To Three Castle Head
Enjoy a Luxury Experience
Three Castle Head is a small sheep farm set on a rugged, coastal landscape overlooking the wild atlantic ocean. It has been run by the Ungerer family since the mid 70’s. Lukas and his wife Joanne have been running self catering holiday accomodation for the past 12 years. They also ran a busy, seasonal cafe on the farm for five years before deciding to walk away from that business venture to focus on raising their young family. They have hosted many events in the cafe space since including weddings, pop up dining experiences, birthday lunches, catering for film crews (advertisement campaigns) and fashion shoots. Lukas has a background in metal working and silver smithing. He completed his studies in London. Joanne has a background in Fashion Design, hospitality and has completed her Bachelor of Social Work in UCC.

I cannot overstate what a special place The Hideaway is. The view from every window is a painting worth saving. Birds sing as they forage while sheep graze in the next pasture over. All the while, an 800 year old castle rests in the distance, waiting for you to hike over for a visit. I watched ships sail in and out of the bay, watched storms move in from the east. All from the comfort of a spacious one bedroom. The kitchen was well appointed, the bed sturdy and comfortable. Joanne greeted me at the gate, then led me past the main house, up and around another building, over a hill and around until The Homestead revealed itself, a refuge at the edge of the property, without another building in sight. She checked to make sure I had what I needed, which I appreciated. I spent hours at the table writing, taking breaks to watch a bird in the shrubs or a boat on the sea. I hiked to Dunlough Castle and the surrounding cliffs. My stay at The Hideaway rejuvenated my soul.

We felt very comfortable with Joanne. She is a pleasantly kind and helpful host. Always approachable and gracious. The apartment is a cosy and very well appointed. Those who like the silence and tranquility are very well taken care of by Joanne. You can start hiking directly from the front door and the cottage is in the middle of an imposing nature. We can definitely recommend this place and will certainly think about the lovely stay for a long time. Thank you!!!

Never rented an accommodation that is 100% accurate with photos and description, so this one from Joanne! Beautiful and very spacious loft, kitchen more than complete, even coffee, tea, and lots of herbs, pepper, salt etc. Complete privacy in a brilliant area. The adjacent garden is also completely private and wonderful to sit. It is secluded but is also mentioned. We drove last piece from Goleen on the postal code via G.maps. You must arrive at the P place of 3 Castle Head. Nearest restaurants Barley Cove beach hotel and in Goleen de Herons Cove. Schull is very nice place with restaurants, by the way the Chowder Seafood recommended for lunch everywhere. Mizen Head Visitor Centre do and lovely walk from the loft to Three Head Castle. We stayed more than a week with beautiful sunny weather! Too bad we couldn't give a number higher than a 5….
